Last october 26 I was invited to present PostgreSQL internals seminary during the Hacklab event organized by the Firenze Linux User Group (FLUG) at creativity festival in Florence.
My talk was scheduled at 5.00 p.m. but the previous conference delayed and freed the room only at 5.40 p.m.
I was angry.
My audience asked me when I would start the talk.
I asked the same question to the FLUG guys was no one could answer me.
When the room was freed I entered the room to start the conference but the staff guy told me that the room was scheduled to another conference and the PostgreSQL Internals was not listed.
I was really upset.
The Hacklab organizers simply forget to communicate the schedule to the logistics guys.
That was very disrespectful for the people that comet to the creativity festival, that was totally unorganized and without any notice about the talks and the places where those talks was scheduled, only to be present at my conference.
Thanks to the lici guys my conference was placed (after one hour delay) in a smaller room with a HD big screen but when I powered on the screen I discovered that the organizers forgot to buy the batteries for the remote control and the
CENSORED big HD screen was useless without remote control.
I solved turning my notebook to the audience and trying to talk at my best.
After this disappointing experience I made the decision that I'll not give any talk to FLUG ever.
They acted like me and my audience was not present.
This is not endurable.
