Last october 26 I was invited to present PostgreSQL internals seminary during the Hacklab event organized by the Firenze Linux User Group (FLUG) at creativity festival in Florence.

My talk was scheduled at 5.00 p.m. but the previous conference delayed and freed the room only at 5.40 p.m.

I was angry.

My audience asked me when I would start the talk.

I asked the same question to the FLUG guys was no one could answer me.

When the room was freed I entered the room to start the conference but the staff guy told me that the room was scheduled to another conference and the PostgreSQL Internals was not listed.

I was really upset.

The Hacklab organizers simply forget to communicate the schedule to the logistics guys.

That was very disrespectful for the people that comet to the creativity festival, that was totally unorganized and without any notice about the talks and the places where those talks was scheduled, only to be present at my conference.

Thanks to the lici guys my conference was placed (after one hour delay) in a smaller room with a HD big screen but when I powered on the screen I discovered that the organizers forgot to buy the batteries for the remote control and the CENSORED big HD screen was useless without remote control.

I solved turning my notebook to the audience and trying to talk at my best.

After this disappointing experience I made the decision that I'll not give any talk to FLUG ever.

They acted like me and my audience was not present.

This is not endurable.

Saturday october 20 I presented a workshop called PostgreSQL Internals seminary at italian fair called SMAU.

I was very happy when I saw the room fulfilled of interested people.

I talked about PostgreSQL internals dynamics for 35 minutes (yes, I talk very fast) starting from storage tecniques and going into the buffer manager evolution from 7.4 to 8.2.

After doing this I talked shortly about the Italian PostgreSQL User Group.

The question time was really interesting with good questions about replication, HA and warm standby configuration.

I was totally satisfied about this talk because people are more interested than ever on PostgreSQL.

Ok, I'm tired, my legs hurts but I'm very very happy.

My PGDay started at 5 a.m. preparing last modification on slides of my mini courses.

The day started with first panic at 8.30 a.m., because a lot of people, more than we expecting, was at registration desk asking to be included in the first italian PostgreSQL Day.

My morning was very busy attending mini-courses about DBA base, advanced and just a little performance tuning talk on the veneziana room almost fullfilled with 40-50 people.

I'm very happy about my performance, some guy asked me many tecnical things and the Faunaly guys told me that my audience was very very happy.

I can't spend enough good words about PostgreSQL guys.

David Fetter was the first Postgresql that I've meet in florence, he gave us a lot of elephant pins, and pleased us staying at PLUG site. Thanks David w00t!

Josh Berkus it's fantastic, he speak very good italian, and he gave me a tequila bottle and a linux-freebsd t-shirt. Thank you Josh, sorry for my bad english.

I'm very happy to meet so cool guys, as dalibo guys (thank you Cedric someone told me that you have apreciate my talk).

The german guys are very cool.

Ok, first day was good, tomorrow I'll introduce Josh keynotes and then I'll be in the audience.

I'm looking forward to listen Simon Riggs PITR talk and meet Hans from Cybertec that just confirmed his talk tomorrow.

And this evening, we'll have a concert at PLUG, if you are in Prato, you are invited.
